Stormers Count-down – Season start info

Hello Stormers families,

We are on the count down to the start of our 2024/25 little athletics season with just a few days to go! The team are busy in the background getting everything ready, and we are looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Please take the time to read through the following important information ahead of our first session.

Volunteers

Thank you to everyone who responded to our call out to fill vacant volunteer positions last week. We are very excited to have so many new people contributing to the Club. A full listing of our volunteer team is on our website.

A special shout-out to our new Vice President, Mikayla Cruz. Returning families will know Mikayla as one of our wonderful Coaching team. Read more about Mikayla’s background with little athletics and as a Champion Hurdler in our Coach Profile. Welcome Mikayla and congratulations on joining the Stormers Executive Committee.

– We are still looking for an Age Manager for U8s. This role requires no previous experience and is ideal if your child is in the group. You are given a program of events each week and take the age group to each where there will be a coach and parents to assist. Age groups without a dedicated Age Manager will be asked to have the parents lead each week and risk not being able to have results recorded.

– We require assistance from families to set up the equipment for our sessions each week. If you are available to arrive at 5.30pm and meet at the storage sheds (on the hill behind the scouts shed) our team will advise the equipment and location needing to be moved.

– The last age group on any activity is expected to assist in packing up and delivering items back to the storage sheds.

Our club runs on volunteers, and many hands make light work. Please contact us if you are interested in getting involved info@murrumbatemanlittleathletics.com.au

SESSION INFORMATION
– First training session is this Wednesday 30 October at the Murrumbateman Rec Grounds.
– Uniforms at this stage have not yet arrived from our supplier. Anyone who registered before 22 September we hope to have your free uniform ready for distribution by week 2 and will keep you updated. In the meantime athletes should wear black shorts and a dark shirt, or a previous season uniform top. We do have previous season uniform stock for sale for $15 each

What to expect each week:
– A Stormers Forecast session plan will be published on our website and shared on Facebook on Tuesday of each week. Families can see in advance the activities planned for that week and we include important info about the session which changes each week.
–  Please arrive in time for the Warm up which starts for all groups at 6pm
        – Tiny Tots to U10s will warm up with Coach Sarah on the Village green (where the markets are held).
        – U11 – U17s will warm up with Coach Katrina on the grassed area to the side of the stage, near the shipping containers.
–  Athletes will then line up in age groups, meet their Age Manager and head off to their first activity of the night.
–  REMINDER – parents are expected to stay onsite, with your children and assist the age managers in the running of the evening.
– Finish times (Approximate)
Tiny Tots – 6.30pm
U6 and U7 – 6.50pm
U8 to U17 – 7.30pm

– Our BBQ Crew will have sausages sandwiches for sale ($3.50 each, cash or card) at the end of every session, and we will have free bananas from Coles so Wednesday dinner is sorted!
– If the session is cancelled due to rain/storms, the club will be advised on our FB page and a post on our website by 3pm on the Wednesday.
– Please remember we encourage at least one parent per family to provide assistance in the form of simple tasks such as time-keeping, measuring and recording results at every meet. No previous experience is necessary. Experienced club officials will be on hand to help. For more information check out this booklet https://cdn.revolutionise.com.au/site/gcabelrynhua6r6l.pdf

We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday.

Stormers Team.
