Stormers Coach Profile – Katrina Cuthbert

Lets continue getting to know the Stormers coaching team in a series of profiles!

Today we get to know Katrina Cuthbert.

All of our athletes will have worked with Coach Katrina this season. Between taking the senior groups for their weekly warm-ups to coaching our running groups and recently our very popular relay races, she is very busy! This is in addition to Katrina’s volunteer hours on our Executive Team as Club Secretary. We all know her bright smile and friendly energy, however you may not know Katrina’s athletics history.

In her youth, Katrina was a keen 400m runner and high jumper. She previously held the U15G GLAC record in 400m and hurdles. Katrina also represented the ACT in Cross-Country in 1999.

Katrina earned her Level 1 Track and Field Coaching Certificate in 2001 and also previously coached little athletes at Ginninderra Little Athletics Club (GLAC).

Katrina grew up in an athletics family. Both her parents served on the GLAC committee and are GLAC Life members and her brother, Brendon Reading, represented Australia at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in the 50km racewalk.

Check out the photos of Katrina competing in high jump and another running in the National Cross-Country Championships in Darwin in 1999.

Our little athletes are so lucky to be trained each week by a Coach and athlete of this caliber and experience. Katrina’s contribution to our Stormers family is immense and we are very grateful!
